san francisco Church
We share these beautiful photos of the San Francisco Solano Church, located on the corner of Alvear and Deán Funes in Río Cuarto.
One of the most important buildings in our city, and one of the most beautiful architectural works by Augusto Ferrari.
The church will celebrate 50 years of its consecration on December 7, 2019. The temple was built after the original almost completely collapsed on December 7, 1951.
Augusto César Ferrari was born in 1871 in Italy, and arrived in Argentina at the beginning of the 20th century. He was an architect, painter and photographer who did much of his work in Córdoba. Like the Church of the Capuchins in the city of Córdoba, the church of Unquillo and that of Villa Allende, and many picturesque mansions that extend around them. These places are now part of the tourist circuits of the region.
In March of this year, the Augusto Ferrari Interpretation Center was opened at the San Leonardo Hotel de Agua de Oro, a mansion built by him in 1929.
The Interpretation Center is a cultural space whose purpose will be to preserve, investigate and disseminate Ferrari's work. Not only is it the repository of some 6,000 collection objects, but it will also add a center to interpret the architect's work and hold samples of painting, architecture and photography, the three disciplines that he embraced.
